This Western, told in six very different chapters, feels like a mirror reflecting the Coen Brothers’ filmography. Uncompromising, wildly funny, morally definitive and often deeply moving, not all of it works. But when it does, watch out. At its best, this one will take your breath away.
If, indeed, the intent of this bio-pic is to chronicle the events that led to Queen and Freddie Mercury’s legendary performance at Live Aid, well, I guess the goal has been met. The movie, as it is, is fine. But it could have been so much more.
Unlike its heroine, this costume drama is perfectly content to have you snuggle up and be entertained.
